Last week my good friend Viviana Baptista (Bi to her friends : ) gave me a call to see if I’d be interested in taking a few shots in Central London of her modeling some lovely vintage clothing. I jumped at the chance as I hadn’t taken my camera out for a proper spin since the summer and what better way to spend an afternoon than photographing pretty ladies in expensive clothing!? There’s a few options to answer that last question but the answer I’m looking for is: ‘There is no better way to spend an afternoon!’. So I packed my gear and of I went (on my great new Dutch bike, sweet) and found myself in Gray’s Antique Market near Bond Street Tube. Downstairs lies a treasure trove of haut couture treats from Lacroix to Chanel and beyond. The commission came from store owner Susie Nelson who along with two willing accomplices helped to style the shoot. Alongside the locale and brickwork of Gray’s itself we also found ourselves putting the new CrossRail development in the frame, much to the delight of the construction workers on the day. You can see some of them hold their own photo shoot below. Susie’s sister Victoria was invaluable rushing the models in and out of various changes. The models were Bi herself and the delightful Emily who shall remain second-nameless until I find it out and update this post. I’ve recently being screening my latest short ‘Light of Day’ as a work in progress to get feed back before I enter the final stages of post-production. First up was Speech Motion hosted by the talented Catherine Brogan and curated by my friend and fellow film maker João Seiça. It was my very first proper Q&A as a director which generated lots of great feedback and I discovered a few of my own thoughts about the film through some great questions from the crowd. Next up was Kino London, the ‘open mic film night’ in Vibe Bar on Brick Lane. I screened a revised cut this time and again I got some helpful and positive feedback. A lot of fun was had that night as it was my birthday, yes, bit of an ego trip asking your friends to come and watch your film on your birthday but I suppose that’s the type of licence you can take once a year. As soon as the film is finished I’ll be pushing it out to festivals. If you want a sneak peak drop me a line and I’ll hook you up with a link! The film stars two fine actors from Drama Centre and was shot in East and North London by a great little crew.

I’ve had this abstract li’l piece slowly simmering away for the last few months for my mate, DJ and Producer Simão Ferreira. Sometime last year I was handed a snippit of video of a crazy caterpillar taking a stroll across a table that Sim had captured on simple point&shoot camera whilst on holidays. I tried to bring the creature on a journey with the music and this is how it turned out, have a look and leave your comments.
