'Also Ran' in Production

Shooting starts this week on my script "Also Ran"; a film about a gambler who's fighting a losing battle with his wife, a loan shark and his own addiction in a dark drama set in modern day London. Directing the piece will be Giorgios Karavasilis with Moj Taylor & Cecilia Gragnani in the lead roles. Pictured getting into their supporting characters are David Howlett & Luke Mesurier, aka Frank'N'Toby. Everyone's looking froward to a hectic but fun shoot. The film screens in the Curzon Soho on the 11th of March by special invite, drop me a line!

Casting (&) Sir Ian Mckellen at Drama Centre!

Ok, so I wasn't casting Ian McKellen today, but I was casting... and Ian McKellen was at Drama Centre... We had plenty of excitement auditioning for our final films which went really well and then how rude of him... Gandalf the (erstwhile) Grey swings by right in the middle of the session for a chat, honestly! :D Needless to say Sir Ian was generous and forthcoming in his interview with our school head Dr. Vladimir Mirodan and gave some great advice and encouragement to all who were there not only in terms of acting but also concerning his political and personal beliefs. If you want to find out the secret of acting with as much passion, integrity and believabilitly as Sir Ian have a look at this little gem. Sir Ian's IMDB here, link above is to his official site.

'Resolve' in the London Short film Festival

I just heard the good news that a short I edited and scored for director Idris Fassasi has been accepted for the The 7th London Short Film Festival which runs this January. The film, 'Resolve', has also secured a distribution deal with one of the top short film distributors and has been entered for a number of other festivals, more news on that later. Congratulations to Idris, I hope the film does really well.

DIT Workshop Weekend - Connemara

Just a few weeks ago I was asked back by DIT Drama Society to run a weekend workshop down in the deep dark west of Ireland alongside fellow media artiste Conor Mulhern. The weekend was a great success investigating ensemble work, improv, play in a day, monologues and little bit of writing. It was alot for one weekend but I think everyone got a taste of lots of different areas  and took something useful away to bring into their work. Needless to say when we weren't working hard we were playing hard and then refreshing ourselves on the last day with a dip in the amazing Killary Fjord (Ireland's only Fjord)! Thanks to Stefanne Prijot for the cool photo of my bonce from one of our warm-up games, for you fashionistas I am sporting an original DIT Drama T-Shirt needless to say : ) [ DIT Drama Bebo here, other links are for their Facebook page.]

Old news but Good news!

My good friend João Seiça made this cool little short earlier in the year. I was Director of Photography for the project which was all shot in still images on my Nikon DSLR and some nice lenses. We shot a few thousand stills and then Joao cut it all together to what you see here. The film entitled: 'O Brother A Little Violence Never Hurt Anyone' premiered to good reception at the Branchage International Film Festival on the 2nd of October this year. João went down to the screening on the island of Jersey and rubbed shoulders with the likes of 'Moon' director Duncan Jones and the Branchage Butlers. Click the photo to see the film, you read João's blog here. Starring in the piece were Luke Mesurier, David Howlett, Paul Davidson and Moj Taylor.
